Holidaying with a conscience

Hebblethwaite Hall Farm holiday cottages are an ideal place to observe and experience the natural and picturesque surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Our use of sustainable energy helps to protect this unspoilt area and the wider environment. To ensure this protection is effective, we go far beyond the provision of recycling facilities for our guests (although we do that too!).

Our well insulated Dales cottages are made cosy and homely by underfloor heating, powered not by oil or gas, but by a ground source heat pump - using the Earth’s natural energy to provide warmth and hot water. Ground source heat pumps effectively capture underground heat. This heat energy is clean, free and doesn't run out, making a positive reduction to carbon dioxide emissions. Also, while not the most appealing of subjects, all waste water from our holiday cottages is processed in an environmentally friendly way that requires no electricity.

Hebblethwaite Hall Farm is a working hill farm, committed to traditional and sustainable upland farming, protecting hedgerows and ancient woodland. Our main focus is maintaining our award winning pedigree Swaledale flock along with other breeds.

This project received funding from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund, which is managed by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.
